The Process

What to expect from a Japanese tattoo at NEST.

Every large-scale project at NEST follows the same path: enquiry, consultation, planning, then scheduled full-day sessions until the piece is complete.

How does the process work, step by step?

1

Enquiry

You send your idea, placement and reference images.

If it's a good fit, you're invited to book a consultation.

2

Consultation

We discuss your ideas and plan the composition and flow across the body.

This is where direction is set and unnecessary ideas are removed.

3

Planning the project

We map the piece into sessions and a realistic timeline.

You leave knowing roughly how many sessions and how long it will take.

4

Scheduled sessions

We book full-day sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, and build the piece in stages.

Consistency keeps the flow and momentum of the work.

Common questions about a session

Yes. A consultation is required before any large-scale work. It's where the project gets its direction, so it isn't a formality.

No. The design is created and presented in context on the day, drawn to fit your body. That is part of why the work flows so well.

Sessions are full-day appointments. Long sittings let the work progress meaningfully and keep the piece consistent.

Sleep well, eat beforehand, and stay hydrated. A full day in the chair is much easier on a rested, well-fed body.

Sessions are one-on-one, so the room stays calm and focused.

Large-scale work is priced per session, based on size, complexity and the number of sessions involved. It's best approached as a long-term investment in one considered piece.
